Watershed Map

Watershed making can be fun and easy if you
follow directions. A watershed is an area of land from which rain and
melting snow drain into a river, stream or another body of water. A
watershed can be big or small . If it is small the water drains into
the neighborhood stream, or even river. If large, like the Chesapeake
Bay, the water drains into a large river. By defining the boundaries
of a watershed, you can determine what types of pollution affects a
body of water. You can also determine where the pollution comes from.
This will help people to see how they can clean up polluted waters.
Any slope of land can determine the boundary of a watershed.A really
big watershed is the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. This is the watershed
that I did. This watershed includes the Susqehanna, Patuxtent,
Choptank, James, Potomac, York, and Rappahannock Rivers . These are
the major rivers. The way that I made a watershed was to takes a
blank map with all of the states that are included in The Chesapeake
Bay Watershed and marking down cities, towns, small rivers, major
bodies of water, etc. I found out lots of new things about The
Chesapeake Bay Watershed. It is educational and fun too.
